1927
Aldo Furlanetto founded the company in Bologna, initially distributing products and fashionable ladies’ accessories via wholesale.
1955
The first Furla store was opened in Bologna on Via Ugo Bassi, which still operates today.
1970s
The second generation of Furlanettos, Aldo's children Carlo, Paolo and Giovanna, joined their father in the company. The first Furla-brand bag and accessory collection was born. In the same year, the brand's expansion policy began with the opening of a network of sales outlets - company-owned and franchises - in Italy.
1980s
Internationalization of the brand took place with the opening of the first two foreign branches in France and the USA, and the first single-brand stores in Paris and New York.
1990s
Furla arrived in Japan, where it opened the Tokyo branch and the first stores. New foreign branches were opened: in chronological order in Spain, the UK, Germany, Hong Kong and China.
1999
This year saw the creation of Furla per l’Arte, the Italian award of excellence in support of young contemporary artists.
2002
A license agreement was signed with De Rigo Vision for the production and distribution of sunglasses and spectacles.
2006
The Giovanna Furlanetto for Furla collection was launched.
2007
Furla celebrated its 80th Anniversary. The "Furla Talent Hub" project was launched: a fluid, dynamic magnet for talented young designers, the future key players of the fashion world.
2008
The Fondazione Furla was created. This was an important stage providing continuity and international exposure for the company's work in support of creativity in art and fashion design. Giovanna Furlanetto was knighted for her services to the industry. Furla inaugurated its online boutique in order to strengthen its distribution network.
2011
The company's expansion and innovation project continued through the strengthening of the global and retail distribution network, greater flexibility in the Supply Chain, and product research and development. The Fondazione Furla presented the eight edition of the Premio Furla. |
