For SS’13 Amanda was inspired by Dorian Leigh, the first model to receive public attention. Influences of her sophisticated 1950’s style are found throughout the collection; her style, uncanny elegance, poise, sophistication and worldliness came across in photos, making women want to emulate her.
Dark-haired, blue-eyed, 5ft 5in tall, with an hourglass figure and exquisite features; she had two children before she started her modelling career in the 1940’s. Her sophisticated style has been an inspiration throughout the collection, particularly the peplum evening dress as photographed by Richard Avedon.
Peplums cinch in the waist and also highlight curves in a way that is womanly but yet demure, adding a new dimension to skirt suits and tailored separates for day. Drapes and pleats create a signature goddess feel for evening, while elegant lace inserts add a different and ladylike texture.
