USP: The embroidery seen in Sufbharat collection is done by the women artisans associated with the Kala Raksha Trust, dedicated to the preservation of Kutchi embroidery by making it culturally and economically viable. Largely practiced by the woman of Sodha Rajput and Meghwal communities, Sufbharat depicts motifs built up through a succession of symmetrical triangles and diamond shapes. The imagery itself is borrowed from what the artisan sees around her – mountains and sand dunes trees, camels and peacocks. A resplendent tapestry of beautiful geometric motifs that once decorated gifts for a bride’s trousseau, Sufbharat is done by counting the wrap and weft of the fabric and embroidering in a satin stitch. Intricate motifs in this dense, weave-like embroidery are imagined by the artisan and counted out in reverse.
