Amar Pawar & Raghavendra Pawar

Co-founders
Brand - Powerlook

Our vision is to be a trendsetter for youth

Powerlook, co-founded by Amar Pawar and Raghavendra Pawar, offers men’s streetwear, with a focus on the best style, comfort, and affordability. It is one of the fastest-growing e-commerce brands in India. In an interview with Fibre2Fashion, the founders talk about their brand, and its ‘Make in India’ concept. They also give some style tips for fashion enthusiasts.

Fibre2Fashion: What motivated you to start your own brand? Do you both have a fashion background?

Amar Pawar & Raghavendra Pawar:

We didn’t have any fashion background or fashion degree. But a fashion sense from our teen years landed us in this industry. Appreciation for carrying out a good casual style and helping or advising friends with the same style that we believe in, that made them stand out in a crowd was another motivational factor. Also, stylish clothes cost a lot which wasn't possible for college students to buy with their pocket money. This motivated us to start a brand that can fill the gap or the void in the men’s fashion world at low prices.

F2F: How do you manage to curate such stylish and eclectic designs? What fashion do you follow?

AP&RP:

A hunch or a process to bring new styles with different colours, and once the styles are tested in the market then we go for bulk orders. We follow the same fashion that we sell.

F2F: Since your brand supports ‘Make in India’ concept, what were the challenges faced initially?

AP&RP:

We think that there are more benefits than challenges with the ‘Make in India’ concept, as you can see that we are serving international men’s fashion. This concept helps us to exclude worrying about international or foreign taxes or any export duties.

F2F: How does your brand manage to offer such unique designs at such low prices? What is the manufacturing process like?

AP&RP:

There is no third party or middleman in the manufacturing process. We deal directly with job workers and mills for a quality fabric that helps us to offer unique designs at low prices. Then, we create a sample with the artwork, and once it is approved, the manufacturing process begins.

F2F: What separates your brand from other men’s fashion brands?

AP&RP:

Our brand has unique styles, high-end trends and we are trendsetters among youth. Moreover, we have a clothing range suitable for each age group and every occasion. For e.g., oversize T-shirts. You may find this trend now amongst the youth, but we were the first in the country or the pioneer for oversized T-shirts and shirts. Our first oversized T-shirt came 3 years back when there was no trend for oversized clothes in India.

F2F: Can you highlight the upcoming trends for fashion enthusiasts?

AP&RP:

No such guesses for now. But soon we are coming up with lightweight jackets that can be worn in all seasons. Also, if any new trend emerges, you will be surely able to find it at Powerlook outlets.

F2F: What is the vision for your label for forthcoming years? Are you planning to expand clothing categories anytime soon?

AP&RP:

Our vision is to be a trendsetter for youth and continue serving the best quality products at affordable prices.

What is the vision for your label for forthcoming years? Are you planning to expand clothing categories anytime soon?
