Founder
label - Mahima Mahajan

Our collections are free-spirited and amplify our love for flowers

Mahima Mahajan, Founder of her eponymous label, is known for crafting outfits that are a blend of Indian fashion and Western styles. Her label offers lehenga sarees, bridal wear, bridesmaid dresses, and other contemporary fusion wear that have a global appeal. In a chat with Fibre2Fashion, Mahajan describes her brand’s unique aesthetic, her inspiration, and plans for the future.

Fibre2Fashion: What inspired you to blend Indian fashion with Western silhouettes and create a unique style of ethnic wear?

Mahima Mahajan:

At Mahima Mahajan, fashion meets function. Our seamless blend between traditional embroidery and Western silhouettes creates the perfect balance between fluidity and structure. We believe in reinforcing the charisma of the modern woman and allowing her to express herself in a way that transcends contemporary design ideology.

F2F: How would you describe the aesthetic and essence of Mahima Mahajan designs?

MM:

Our collections are free-spirited. They’re a place of incredible colour, freedom, beauty and spirit, unafraid to claim their space in the world. We are equal parts elegant and romantic, with a touch of drama.

F2F: How do you consistently keep floral prints as a defining element in your designs while ensuring that each collection introduces fresh and unique patterns and designs?

MM:

I’m often asked—why florals? The inspiration behind all my collections is my nani—a lady fierce and ahead of her time. Her impact on me was indelible. In all the years I knew her, I have distinct memories of her experimenting with prints—florals being a favourite. And that is where my design journey started. My collections amplify our collective love for flowers.

F2F: Could you share some insights into the process of harmonising contemporary trends with Indian tradition in your collections?

MM:

Our collections often blend our past, present, and future. It is where modern geometric prints meet the old-world charm of florals; feminine fluidity collides with structured silhouettes; and extravagant volumes meet light as air fabrics. We’re all about the juxtaposition.

F2F: How does it feel to have your creations worn and admired by celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kajal Aggarwal, and others?

MM:

Some of the most talented and beautiful women in India have worn our designs, and yes it does make us feel extremely special!

F2F: How do you envision the future of Mahima Mahajan and what are your goals for the brand?

MM:

We hope to continue doing what we do best—having fun with fashion and creating a place of incredible colour, freedom, beauty and spirit—making women feel confident, empowered, and truly beautiful!

F2F: What advice would you give to aspiring fashion designers who are looking to create their own unique style and establish their brand in the industry?

MM:

Stay true to yourself and to your core.

What advice would you give to aspiring fashion designers who are looking to create their own unique style and establish their brand in the industry?
