1889
Jeanne Lanvin set up a milliner's boutique on the corner of rue Boissy d'Anglas in 1889. She later created her own house at the same place.

1897
Her daughter Marguerite was born who was a fascinating source of inspiration for her mother. Jeanne created dresses for Marguerite's dolls, then clothes for Marguerite herself.

1908
A child apparel department was created.

1909
In 1909, Jeanne became a member of the Dressmaker's Union, and her fashion career took off. Departments were opened for young ladies and women.

1911
The first known Lanvin wedding dress was created for the summer 1911 collection.

1920
In the 1920s, the house of Lanvin grew dramatically -1,200 employees, three buildings in Paris, seven branches in France and worldwide. A dye works was created in the city of Nanterre, outside Paris. It was here that the famous Lanvin blue was created, inspired by a Fra Angelico painting with which Jeanne was smitten. At the same time, Jeanne struck up collaboration with Armand Albert Rateau (1882-1938), which led to the creation of Lanvin Decoration. Lanvin Parfums SA was created.

1926
Lanvin Tailleur/Chemisier was created at 15 Rue du Faubourg St Honoré. Lanvin Forrurre and Lanvin lingerie was created. Jeanne Lanvin was named Chevalier of the French.

1938
In 1938, filmmaker Sacha Guitry awarded the Legion of Honour to the "Ambassador of elegance".

1950-1963
After "Madame's" death in 1946, Marie-Blanche de Polignac ran the house until 1958. Antonio Canova Del Castillo designed the Houses collection for women.

1964-1984
Jules-François Crahay designed Houses haute couture collections. He received three Golden Thimble Awards (Autumn-winter 1977, Spring-Summer 1981, Autumn-Winter 1984)

1985-1989
Maryll Lanvin led the Haute-Couture section from 1985 to 1989.

1990
Claude Montana presented five Haute Couture collections and won two Golden Thimble awards (Autumn-Winter 1990, Spring-Summer 1992). Eric Bergère began a two-year stint as head of the prêt-à-porter collections.

1993
The Lanvin House decided to focus exclusively on prêt-à-porter for men and women. Dominique Morlotti took over the creation of both men's and women's collections.

1996
Lanvin was acquired by the L’Oréal group. Ocimar Versolato has become the women's ready-to-wear designer followed by Cristina Ortiz.

2001
Since October 2001 Alber Elbaz became the Creative Director of the Accessories and Women Ready-to-Wear. Lanvin was sold to the Chinese business woman and philanthropist Shaw Lan Wang.

2005
In 2005, Lucas Ossendrijver took charge of a new menswear line at Lanvin.
