Spring/Summer 2013 collection

The inspiration for Ailanto's Spring/Summer 2013 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid was the Italian architect Gio Ponti and the house he designed in 1956 for the Planchart family in the hills of Venezuela. Brothers Aitor and Iñaki Munzo said this stands out for the architect, because of the harmony of the architecture but also the vegetation growing around it. To reflect this contrast of plant life with structured architecture, the designers developed a number of patterns from marble and diamonds to drawings of cockatoos and toucans. Leafy prints and floral are also part of the collection.

Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection

Ailanto presented their Fall/Winter 2012-2013 collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid. The line was inspired by Chinoiserie, or the idea of using Chinese-influenced elements in European style. The effect was mixed with contemporary motifs and Chinese rock music to add oomph to the show. Ailanto used ideas such as asymmetry, decoration, kimonos, traditional Oriental prints, and more details. Dresses and skirts were made of satin but also silk and tweed, moving between fluidity and structure using these Chinese elements and details. Knee length dresses which were modest but still trendsetting and jumpsuits with floral prints, oversize sleeves, and embellished collars were among some of the most stunning pieces in the collection.
