About The Founder

Timberlands legacy began in 1918, in a small Boston, Massachusetts shoe company where Timberlands waterproof boots. In 1973, the name Timberland was born as the brand name for the original waterproof leather boot, but quickly expanded to add casual and boat shoes to its line and soon became an international lifestyle brand offering clothing and women's and children ranges too. Today Timberland is a global brand which founder, Nathan Swartz, began his boot making career as an apprentice stitcher.

With his own hands he cut leather, stitched seams attached soles and in the 60's he pioneered the first truly is proud to be a twenty-first century example for socially responsible corporations around the world.
