Whistles AW13 collection
Whistles presents a modern and sleek sculptural collection with utility overtones. Naval influences are referenced in abstract, with cables appearing on luxuriously soft and heavy knits, interlocking chain prints run all over stiffened silk. Luxe knitwear appears in cashmere and angora oversized sweaters, paired with smoothly polished leather skirts and trousers. A hand knit reworked cable placement sweater lends a crafted feel to a modern look.
Waffle textured and dense merino knits are derived from retro naval long johns. Camouflage is reimagined in rich jacquard, the shape creating a smooth line away from the body. Utilitarian shapes are updated in the form of an oversized parka, a simple pair of tailored trousers or a dress with softly rounded sleeves. Pattern is ever present in the collection, flowing throughout is an idea of the sea, its distorted shapes, marbled hazy and organic are translated into foam spots on silk wools and silks. Marbled aqua prints on light silk blouses and skirts.
Leather adds a sleek direction to the collection; its textures appearing in different forms. A high shine polished leather with an almost wet look, alternatively embossed with a crocodile print or matte and discreet yet stiffened, giving a streamlined form to a silhouette. Elsewhere it comes in the form of quilt stitched sweatshirts, A-line skirt, wrap pencil skirts and carrot shaped trousers. The silhouette is tailored yet the outline is soft; oversized outerwear conceals a sharper form underneath. A line skirts with cross over seams. Tailored trousers, update on the sweatshirt in leather. Oversized and reworked pea coats, cocoon throw ons and an outsize sheepskin aviator jacket appear in mixed textures with quilt detailing.
Colour palette - Navy and cream, abound, with ocean colours of sea green and glacier blue complementing them Military colours lend a grounded vision; olive green and camouflage patterns are softened with silver grey and antique pink.
Accessories - Accessories serve to complement the collection, with luxury kit bags, oversized clutches and WAF style handbags. Small leather goods come in the form of reworked camera case style bags or multi pocket coin purses. Texture is introduced through croc, suede and pony skin.

The Whistles Resort’14 collection continues the Whistles aesthetic, which is an effortless, cool way of dressing. The range comprises of buttery leather sweatshirts, skirts, and trousers; a relaxed waffle-weave tie coat; and a host of light, mohair knits. The sleek rosebud, crystal blue, black, and white wares appeal to the increasingly sophisticated Whistles customers.
