In 2010, Whitney Houston wore the Tony Ward Couture gown for the BET Honors Award. The gown worn then, got selected by the GRAMMY Museum as the centrepiece of their new exhibition!
The GRAMMY Museum, a one-of-a-kind Museum paying tribute to music's rich cultural history, is celebrating all the winners of the BET Lifetime Achievement Award with an exhibition featuring their most iconic gowns and costumes.
The Whitney Houston dress designed by Tony Ward is made of the finest Silk Muslin, encrusted with curves of Swarovski crystals in shaded tones and handmade origami flowers. It took 130 hours of handwork to create this spectacular gown in the Tony Ward Couture Ateliers.
Whitney Houston wished that this dress she wore while receiving the prestigious Award will be sold at the profit of a non-profit social organization. Following her sudden death, Tony Ward wanted to honour her wish and offered the dress to Oum el Nour, an organization for Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation. Oum el Nour will auction the dress in 2014.
