Extraordinary combinations

The Sergio Rossi Spring-Summer 2013 collection unites the iconographic language of Memphis Milano and the precious manual skills of Carlo Bugatti. Creative Director Francesco Russo presents a visually striking collection that is pure and without compromise. Sottsass's radical design - combinations of bold color, angular geometric motifs, and a penchant for unusual materials - inspired Russo's creativity. The tone is daring and sharp. Each model has a precise aesthetic character defined by a spirit that is both elegant and maximalist. Russo's concept is eclectic yet consistent: committed to undermining the rules, he replaces the industrial process favored by Memphis design with the superb artisan approach of Carlo Bugatti. Sergio Rossi's distinctive and refined craftsmanship can be seen in the couture touches that define the entire collection. Woven leather inserts with three-dimensional texture juxtapose colors and form graphic elements on heels, soles, and straps. Metallic surfaces interrupt dizzying color combinations and fool the eye: laminated and patent leather with crystal intarsia are the choice for evening. A sense of rebellious sensuality defines the entire collection.

Sergio Rossi Women's Pre Spring Collection 2013

The 2013 Cruise collection by Sergio Rossi lives dichotomous aesthetic contamination, unexpected artistic collisions. The hyper-visual collage designed by Creative Director Francesco Russo is assembled with elusive joints and allusions that leak from the sophisticated architecture of seductive shoes. As in a narrative cinematographic fiction, plot and tale are conflicting.

The story - directed by Francesco Russo - follows the paths of two revolutionary Italian designers, Carlo Bugatti and Ettore Sottsass the souls of the Memphis Milano movement, and creates virtual points of contact and establishes a new visual harmony. The aesthetic vocabulary of Bugatti is defined by the sinuous evolutions of the Art Nouveau movement of the late 1900's, by the fascinating blend of function and flourish, formed through the use of precious raw materials such as ebony, ivory, pearl, camel leather and suede. In complete contrast, the geometric graphic elements developed by Sottsass, define the structures of ironic and rebellious objects, enlightened with animated colors covered by domestic and industrial materials such as laminated plastic. In this impossible meeting, this timeless conversation, the two designers' languages come together to suggest a new interpretation of the contemporary giving a new meaning to its symbols of desire. Once again, Sergio Rossi’s icons change skin.

Sergio Rossi Men's Collection Spring/Summer 2013
Re-drawing elegance

Re-contextualizing tradition to create a new balance, Francesco Russo, the Creative Director of Sergio Rossi, continues to explore the aesthetics of modern man. The Spring/Summer 2013 collection is based on a strong study of function and proportion. Francesco Russo has edited the strict structural frames of reference that have defined the history of men's footwear through imperceptible yet positive changes. Soles are slightly thinner and the silhouettes are subtly tapered. The essence of the collection is classic British style. Time-honored traditional elements of men's footwear are featured on iconic styles embellished with hand-stitching and double Blake stitching.
