History

1966:
The first Miss Selfridge store opened in Selfridges Duke Street, London on 3rd September.

1967:
Miss Selfridge started to open Lewis' department stores.

1969:
It had opened its independent stores in Croydon, Brighton, Regent Street and Brompton. There were now over 180 Miss Selfridge stores offering a unique range of clothing and accessories.

1970:
Miss Selfridge becomes the first fashion retailer to advertise on London buses.

1978:
Miss Selfridge was the first fashion retailer to launch its own make up range, Kiss & make up!

1999:
In July 1999 Arcadia Group, which was owned by Sir Philip Green, acquired Miss Selfridge, along with Wallis and clothing retailer Outfit, from Sears plc. Arcadia Group also included Topshop, British Home Stores, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Burton, and Topman.

2000:
Miss Selfridge was acquired by the Arcadia Group.

2002:
The Arcadia Group was bought by Sir Philip Green.

2005:
In 2005 Miss Selfridge collaborated with designer Bella Freud to create a capsule collection, taking inspiration from Bella's trademark menswear tailoring with a touch of quirky elegance.

2006:
Miss Selfridge turned 40 and re-opened as a concession in Selfridges department store. To celebrate Miss Selfridge successfully, sponsored the Victoria & Albert museum's 1960's fashion exhibition.

2008:
In its most successful year to date, Miss Selfridge focused on taking inspiration from vintage fashion places.

2009:
Miss Selfridge continued to expand its presence on the High Street with many new store openings.

2010:
In April 2010, Miss Selfridge launched the Gossip Girl Collection in which they had worked with Eric Damon, the stylist of the show Gossip Girl, to create a line of 8 dresses based on the four main female characters.
