Aigner - A Name Goes International
1904
Etienne Aigner was born in Hungary. In the 1930s, the designer discovered his love for leather. In Paris he designed and developed the handbag collections for several Haute Couture establishments.
1950
Etienne Aigner presented his first collection in New York - a brand name was born. The monogram - derived from the name Aigner in the shape of a horseshoe - soon became an international symbol for quality and modern style.
1965
Etienne Aigner's company was founded in Munich.
1972
Etienne Aigner S.r.I. was founded in Italy and was responsible for the entire leather production. The range of products was expanded to include luggage and shoes.
1973
The brand went international and the franchising system was introduced.
1974
Fashion accessories including silk scarves and ties were introduced.
1975
Aigner entered the cosmetic market with the scent “Etienne Aigner No. 1”.
1978
Aigner presented its first fashion collection: casual elegance for women and men.
1979
Etienne Aigner became a public limited company.
1982
Aigner introduced the Treasure line with watches and jewellery.
1983
The company went public.
1987
License was granted for eyewear which led to the introduction of the Aigner Eyewear collection.
1990
Licenses were awarded for womens’ and men's wear.
1994
This year marked the introduction of a new Aigner Corporate Identity.
2000
Designer Etienne Aigner died at the age of 96 years in New York.
2001
Aigner awards the license for watches to pe.timedesign/Pforzheim.
2002
Aigner inaugurated its new flagship store in Munich.
2003
This year marked the first Aigner catwalk Milano Moda Donna and opening of a new Aigner Store at Terminal 2/Airport Munich.
2004
Sabatini S.p.A.: new licensee for Aigner womenswear. Nigura/Düsseldorf: new licensee for glasses. In the same year, the company also acquired new License for jewellery and writing to pe.timedesign.
2005
A new shop system “Champagne” was realized in Dubai and Jakarta.
2006
2006 saw the inauguration of the Sterling Silver collection.
2008
Sibylle Schoen became new CEO of Aigner.
