• ESCADA was founded in Munich. The origin of the ESCADA name itself came from Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley, who bet on the full-blooded Irish racing horse of the same name and won.

1978
• Introduction of the ESCADA brand.

1982
• ESCADA enters the US market.

1986
• Initial Public Offering.

1989
• Through 1989 ESCADA undergoes rapid internationalization of the business (founding of subsidiaries in USA, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, France, Spain, Italy, and Asia).

1990
• Introduction of the first ESCADA fragrance.

1992
• Death of Margaretha Ley, Chief Designer and Co-Founder of ESCADA.

1994
• Brian Rennie becomes Design Director and ESCADA SPORT is introduced.

1998
• Introduction of ESCADA EYEWEAR.

2000
• Introduction of ESCADA ACCESSORIES.

2006
• Wolfgang Ley resigns and names Frank Rheinboldt as CEO and Damiano Biella is named Creative Director.

2007
• Jean-Marc Loubier is named CEO.

2008
• Dr. Bruno Sälzer is named CEO.

2009
• New structure of the ESCADA and ESCADA SPORT Design – Karen Schoeller and Daniel Wingate are named Design Directors of ESCADA.
• November 2009, after insolvency of ESCADA AG, the ESCADA business was sold to one of the Mittal Family Trusts. Megha Mittal became chairman.

2011
• Introduction of ESCADA Home Collection.

2012
• Introduction of ESCADA Jewelry and Watches.
