Lifestyle: passion for polo

The Brioni Polo Club was the very first Italian polo club, established in 1924. From this time onwards the connection between the company and polo has remained important: the polo player on the poster for the Brioni Islands has always been featured on the lining of the jackets, christened with the name of one of the most exclusive resorts of the early 1900s, the Brioni archipelago.

It is interesting that a geographical area that was the heart of polo, the region along the Silk Road from the Caucasus to India and beyond into China, passing through the ancient Persian Empire, has on the one hand kept alive deeply imbedded traditions, such as the matches on the high planes of Pakistan, and on the other is also entering into a new phase of development that centres on the luxury market.

Brioni has always combined luxury and tradition and today, during a period of maximum development in these regions, it has decided to re-propose the polo theme, an ancient and virile sport, a symbol of elegance in the fashion and in the regions in which it has played a major role.

The fashion house has organised three Brioni Polo Classic competitions and participated in the Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow in St Moritz, winning in 2007 and 2008. It has also created a small polo collection, for both players and fans of the sport, gentlemen and experts who share a common love of this unrivalled sport.
