Mark Maidment - Creative Director
Fashion was a career choice for Mark Maidment from a very young age. When The Face, Blitz and Arena hit the magazine stands in the 1980's the deal was done. Mark went to the Harrow School of Art to study a degree in menswear design where he graduated in 1993 with a BA (Hons).

In 2002 an opportunity came along that was too good to be true. Mark had always had a passion for British brands and particularly brands linked to British style cultures. In 1982 the band Madness from Camden, London, released their eponymous 'One Step Beyond' album and for Mark this ignited a love for all things Ska and 2 Tone. In that same year Mark purchased his first Ben Sherman shirt to complete his Ska look, a shirt he still owns today. So when he was offered the job as Design Director for Ben Sherman, he could not believe his luck and his good fortune to work for this iconic British brand.

The brand had seen better days and Mark started by leading the design and creation of better product, and started to develop Ben Sherman as a lifestyle brand not just Shirts. In 2005 Mark was promoted to the position of Creative Director, he continued to oversee product but now he was responsible for store design, brand imagery and marketing.

Having been involved deeply in the strategic and commercial business decisions at Ben Sherman for a few years, this new role was the perfect evolution or rather headway for him and the Ben Sherman Brand. Mark has taken his 20 year career in the industry, and all the knowledge and experience learnt through those years, combined it with an unparalleled love and passion for the Ben Sherman brand and mixed that with a rare combination of design, creation, strategic knowledge and business flair and a passion to make it the most sought after brands in the world.

Ben Sherman celebrated its 50th year in 2013, and Mark's goal is to create a brand that is ready for another 50 years of success and creative fashion. With a focused approach, strong leadership and an honest and reverential philosophy this is indeed a very exciting time for Mark as well as the Ben Sherman brand.
