Since its foundation in 1971, David Reiss recognised a niche in the market for affordable premium quality tailoring and opened the first Reiss store on Bishopsgate in London's thriving financial capital. By the early 90s Reiss had an expansive store portfolio including key London locations such as King’s Road and Bond Street and out of London shopping hubs such as Glasgow and Manchester.

The Reiss expansion strategy continued and in 2000 along with the opening of key London flagship store, Kent House, Reiss launched its highly-anticipated first womenswear collection. In 2005 Reiss announced a targeted global expansion with the first of its US stores opening in New York's West Broadway, which later went on to win Best International Store for its innovative design.

West Broadway was followed shortly with stores in Bleecker Street and Columbus Avenue in NY, Boston and the iconic LA store on Robertson. The global expansion continued further with locations opening in Dubai, and Moscow and Copenhagen.

Always sartorially savvy, Reiss introduced a Personal Tailoring service in 2010, launching a made-to-measure suit of Savile Row quality, but with a cost from £550, only £100 more than its most expensive off-the-peg suit. Reiss finished 2010 on a high, having been recognised globally when Kate Middleton chose to wear Reiss in one of her official engagement portraits, resulting in extensive coverage and increased brand interest and awareness internationally.

Reiss also won industry recognition as Drapers 'Larger Multiple Retailer of the Year' reflecting Reiss’ transformation into a fully-fledged premium retailer. In celebration of its 40th year, Reiss unveiled its Anniversary Editions collection with a focus on luxurious fabrics and detailing in 2011.

And in August of that year Reiss saw the opening of a 688 sqft womenswear shop-within-shop in Bloomingdales Flagship store on 59th street NYC, positioned within the contemporary brands, reinforcing Reiss' brand position within the global market.

Following the success of the flagship launch, Reiss rolled into an additional 12 Bloomingdales sites in 2012. Reiss is set to launch a fragrance in 2013 for both men and women, which will be distributed worldwide.

With over 120 global sites, from LA to London, New York to Beijing and Copenhagen to Russia, and over 1000 employees, David Reiss’ vision continues to propel Reiss forward and ensures that it expands, evolves and excites.
