Fibre2Fashion : You have been fascinated by fashion since childhood. How did you choose to have a formal training in architecture and not fashion?

Angel Sanchez:

I always knew I wanted to do something creative, but at that time fashion was not a career option for me. There wasn’t even formal training for fashion in my country when I was studying; that is why I chose architecture…. Still today I think it was a wise choice.

Fibre2Fashion : Certainly it was a wise choice… as it’s very much reflected in your work today, your designs are architectural yet very much feminine...how do you strike this balance?

Angel Sanchez:

My style as a designer has a lot to do with my formation as an architect. My regard for proportion, precision in lines and the overall construction of the pieces… all of that comes back to architecture and it is reflected in my work. But, that balance comes from years of working with fabrics, and becoming more and more familiar with the female figure. Overall by recreating the fantasy of fashion.

Fibre2Fashion : Your label is loved by women across the globe; also you have been designing for top celebrities and socialites of stature… for whom do you enjoy designing more your clientele or celebrities?

Angel Sanchez:

Definitely designing for a particular client. It is a much more personal experience, and a higher degree of loyalty is involved.

Fibre2Fashion : In recent years, fashion industry is considering use of organic fabrics ….what is your take on this?

Angel Sanchez:

I am always inclined to use green materials if they are available and to be conscientious of the way we impact the environment. I hope in the coming years more developments in these areas are made.

Fibre2Fashion : Every designer / artist has a source of inspiration, which for you has always been your mother. Today when you are one of the most sought after designers globally and designing style is moving from traditional to contemporary, how do learning’s from her help you?

Angel Sanchez:

My mother has been my inspiration since I was a child. Her influence however is related to the passion and dedication I have and continue to put into my designs and my work, not particularly to my style of design.

Fibre2Fashion : Fashion industry is changing and has become more experimental with colors, cuts, fabrics etc. How do you see this change happening and are such distinctive styles getting adapted by the stylist?

Angel Sanchez:

As a designer, I am always attentive and even searching for new developments in the industry. Those are the things that make my design work exciting and innovative every season. I do see those innovations being translated into everyday wear. That we owe to stylists, the publishing industry and celebrities who take runway pieces and make them marketable to people.

Fibre2Fashion : Very true! Sanchez, your Bridal collection is one of the most elegant and desired one by every bride to be… Can you share few imperative aspects that come in your mind when you think of designing a Bridal dress?

Angel Sanchez:

My bridal collections are dedicated to a contemporary bride, one who desires timeless elegance yet not a literally traditional wedding. A woman who seeks to reflect her own style and time… This is why I design ethereal creations with modern details and avoid heavy and overly ornamented designs.

Fibre2Fashion : When can we see you expanding in accessories and shoes segment?

Angel Sanchez:

I would love to explore other ways to express my ideas in accessories, especially shoes. I believe it would be a natural continuation of my creative process.
