  With 19 year old British teenage actress Emma Watson hogging all the limelight for being the new face of Burberry, the simple yet classic trench coats culture seems to have relived.
Thomas Burberry, the inventor of gabardine fabric, submitted a design for an army officer's raincoat to the United Kingdom War Office in 1901 and soon the trench coat became an optional item of dress in the British Army, and was obtained by private purchase by officers and Warrant Officers Class I, No other ranks were permitted to wear them.
And needless to say ever since that moment tills today the trench coat is a classic-wear.
After world war -2 trench coats were more than a uniform ,they were rather the new name of street fashion, and were a must have among every men and women irrespective of age and gender.
Later the movie Casablanca gave some unforgettable trench coat moments to the fashion industry.
Trench coats were never out of fashion but this fall brings them back with a bang, designers are fashion experts are calling it the biggest investment of the season in these stiff times of recession.
With Adequate amount of shimmer being already added to the wardrobe some of the designers didn't forget to make a subtle but classy statement with the evergreen camel jackets and trench overcoats. In times of recession one would not prefer to go out making a bang every time with all the sequence worked detailing, therefore trench coats have arrived as a relief.
These can be paired up with skin fit denim; creased- fit trousers, leggings and straight fit trousers, when provided with good knee touching length. At the same time models dazzled the runway with the waist length coats with the buttons being left open bringing a slight hint of the mystery of sensuous short dresses lying beneath. These jackets came in with all kinds of collars and necklines like broad, pointed, false collar, Nehru collars etc with leather tie up at the waist line along with bold metallic trims and buttons Camel coats came in to be the wisest buy of the season for any female's wardrobe this autumn winter.
Buttoned or unbuttoned the concept behind is to bring out something which is elegant, with recession being around nobody is in any mood of indulging into any kind of fad as fashion, these are rather times of making smart and economical buying decisions.
Like always the trench coats in natural skin color gives a much unbiased style statement that can be followed irrespective of various demographic differences, something which can be easily passed from mother to her daughter.
Besides the basic skin tones black and navy are other hues which can be followed easily before thinking twice.
