TISHA by Tisha Saksena | Aarenkhini

What: Contemporary versions of traditional kutch attires for women

Traditional kutch silhouettes like ‘kaanchdi’ (backless blouses), ‘chola’ (a sleeveless garment) and ‘kedia’ (a short wrap top) are reinterpreted in contemporary versions. The colour-palette of deep geru (brick-red), kesari (saffron), rani (hot-pink), narangi (violet) and black is rendered with gold zardozi, resham and dori hand-embroideries in ethnic, tribal ‘Dhungo’ and ‘Dhaal’ circular motifs with mirrors. These timeless ensembles are finally finished off with handmade cowrie-shell tassels.
