When it comes to holiday wear, I always believe that comfort comes first

The Label Life is an online brand by Style Editor Malaika Arora where she puts together a closely edited elevated collection of inspired work-to-weekend clothing, smart shoes, statement accessories, and home décor. Speaking to Fibre2Fashion, Arora discusses the label’s Summer Escape collection.

Fibre2Fashion: What was the inspiration behind The Label Life’s Summer Escape collection? What kind of mood or vibe were you hoping to convey with this collection?

Malaika Arora:

We took the sweet feeling of an exotic escape and channeled it in our newest holiday wear edit – think those dreamy sunsets, the beautiful safaris or those serene island visits – that’s the mood we were going for.

F2F: How do you decide which colours and prints to include?

MA:

It was simple for this one – we looked towards everything that makes an escape feel lovely – orange of the balmy evenings, the lush green of a forest safari, the palm trees of a desert oasis and so on and so forth.

F2F: The Summer Escape collection includes a number of pieces that are perfect for beach vacations and summer getaways. How do you balance functionality with style when selecting pieces for a collection like this?

MA:

When it comes to holiday wear, I always believe that comfort comes first. Which is why we included pieces like our shrugs, trenches, breezy poplin shirts and flowy maxis! These pieces pack the best of both – comfort and chic.

F2F: How do you curate accessories to ensure they can complement diverse outfits and styles?

MA:

We love adding sweet details that complement the mood of the collection – be it with dainty coloured gemstones, chain-detail earrings or hammered rings and earrings.

F2F: How do you see The Summer Escape collection fitting into The Label Life's overall brand aesthetic and vision?

MA:

We took The Label Life’s signature silhouettes like midi skirts, structured tops and tiered dresses and fabrics like satin and poplin and added some vacation-perfect tweaks to it to make it fit seamlessly yet refreshingly.

F2F: Which are your most favourite pieces or looks from The Summer Escape collection, and what makes them stand out to you?

MA:

I particularly adore the sage trench coat for the perfect airport look (you have seen me don that!) along with the stunning Cocoa Satin Halter Top and Skirt Set! So charming for that dreamy beachside dinner.

F2F: What advice would you give to someone looking to refresh their summer wardrobe, and how does The Summer Escape collection offer solutions to the common summer fashion dilemmas?

MA:

I would strongly advise them to experiment with vibrant colours, get a little out of their comfort zone, and not forget to have fun with their styling. The Summer Escape edit with its lovely hues, eye-catching prints and stunning fabrics gives solutions to those who wish to push the boundaries on their holiday dressing – but only in a subtle manner.

What advice would you give to someone looking to refresh their summer wardrobe, and how does The Summer Escape collection offer solutions to the common summer fashion dilemmas?
